Creator Notes:

I’ve wanted to do a flashback series for quite some time, and it eventually merged with an idea for exploring this hypothetical Nintendo “universe” that’s touched upon in Smash Bros. Fortunately, there doesn’t really seem to be much backstory for older Nintendo characters’ childhoods…so my rule is, anything that doesn’t directly contradict canon is fair game!

So I thought this was a great opportunity to mix BitF-style humor and characterization with a longer story involving a lot of different Nintendo characters.

This first part alone took an incredible amount of time to finish–close to 20 hours, and that’s with me cutting a corner here or there. It does make me wonder how I’m going to fit all the parts (there’s a fairly large number of them) in at two comics a week. I guess we’ll see how it goes.

!’m actually very excited about doing this comic and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed drawing it.
