BitF uses sight gags for nearly all its strips, but sometimes it’s liberating to work with a little more dialogue and character humor. Today’s was a lot of fun to make since it really let me explore Adeleine’s character for the first time (and her relationship with King Dedede). For those that haven’t played it, this comic is referencing Kirby 64, where Kirby, Adeleine, Dedede (along with Waddle Dee and Ribbon) all worked together to save Popstar. As a result, I see Adeleine as one of the few characters to treat Dedede with some sort of respect.

Note the smaller gags in the first panel–the fact that Adeleine is there by choice rather than by being stuck, the fact that a lot more of the painting has been completed (so they’ve been there for awhile), and the fact that everyone seems to have accepted their inevitable fate at this point. Dedede just feels that having his reputation sullied is a fate worse than death.

Why doesn’t that stupid bomb blow up already? Not much longer…
